Conservative Rep: ‘I Will Not Vote for John Boehner’

Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) says he will not vote for House Speaker John Boehner’s reelection as speaker. In a lengthy statement, the Oklahoma lawmaker laid out some of his issues with Boehner’s current tenure. He specifically cites the “Cromnibus,” the government-funding measure that passed before lawmakers ended the 113th Congress in December.

California DMV Hires 900 New Workers To Deal With Onslaught Of Illegal Immigrant Drivers

The California Department of Motor Vehicles has hired some 900 new employees and opened four new license processing centers to deal with the expected onslaught of undocumented immigrants who will be eligible for a driver’s license this new year. Starting Friday, under a new law requiring the California DMV to provide illegal immigrants driver’s licenses, the state DMV is bracing for the newly eligible applicants.

Report: Illegal Immigrants Becoming More Aggressive With Border Patrol

Immigrants detained illegally entering Arizona across the southern border are becoming more likely to lash out aggressively at the Border Patrol agents who stop them, according to the president of the union that represents agents in the state. “Now, when we stop two or three people, often we find that, at least, one of them is aggressive,” he said.

The controversial spending deal the 113th Congress passed before the end of the year also included a little over $2 billion in funding for the operation of the House and Senate. According a USA Today report, Congress’ 2015 budget is 11 percent less than its 2010 operations budget. Back then the cost came in at $2.3 billion.
