School Apologizes For Failing To Notify Parents Prior To Reading Transgender Book To K-3 Children

Public school officials in Kittery Point, Maine apologized to parents of students in kindergarten through third grade for failing to notify them before their children were exposed to a book about a transgendered child during a lesson on tolerance and acceptance. A parent of a first-grader at the school called school principal David Foster when her son came home asking questions about sexual identity.

In 2006, attorney general nominee Loretta Lynch joined other former U.S. attorneys in an amicus brief in a case before the Supreme Court that maintained the federal law against partial-birth abortion was unconstitutional because the term “living fetus” was too vague for those whose job it was to obey and enforce the ban.
