Following the Senate’s failure to advance legislation to defund Planned Parenthood, largely along party lines, 53-46, the pro-life community reacted by vowing to press on with legislation that would defund the nation’s largest abortion provider.

Sen. Joe Manchin (WVA) will be the first Democrat U.S. Senator to support defunding Planned Parenthood.

In what some conservative leaders are calling a “show vote,” the Senate will hold a vote Monday afternoon to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of undercover videos showing the organization’s officials engaged in the sale of body parts of aborted babies.

At a press conference Thursday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Republicans’ talk of defunding Planned Parenthood is a “distraction,” that will hold little weight with Americans because the organization has a “solid grounding of support with the American people.”

“This is one of the greatest illustrations of the butchery, if you will, of our culture and the literal attack on words to call what happens in a Planned Parenthood clinic ‘health,’” Limbaugh said. “Whether you preface it by saying women’s health or whatever, there’s nothing healthy going on in here.”

The House is leaving for its summer recess until September 8 without voting on legislation to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of the recent gruesome videos released of the abortion giant’s practice of harvesting the body parts of aborted babies for sale to biomedical companies.

As observed at MRC TV, the policy document obtained by the Center for Medical Progress, which produced the videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s dealings in the transfer of aborted baby body parts for sale, shows that baby body “tissues” are divided into Categories A, B, and C, with “A” being the most desirable and lucrative for technicians in terms of compensation.

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia Burwell said she had not viewed any of the videos regarding Planned Parenthood’s involvement in harvesting the body parts of aborted babies for sale, and that her office would not be conducting an investigation into the practices of the nation’s largest abortion provider.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has assigned three Republican senators to develop a plan to defund Planned Parenthood.

The rallies, titled #WomenBetrayed, were launched by national pro-life group Students for Life of America (SFLA) and its partner organization Pro-Life Future in response to the gruesome undercover investigative videos released by the Center for Medical Progress over the past several weeks. Participants are urging their state and federal lawmakers to investigate, prosecute, and defund Planned Parenthood.
