Mexican Cartel Takes the Fight to Authorities — Kills 15 Cops in Ambush

A new cartel war appears to be taking place in Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Unlike the wars in the northern part of the country where rival cartel factions fight each other for control of lucrative areas, the new war pits a drug cartel against Mexico’s police. In the most recent shootout, a group of cartel hitmen ambushed a convoy of state police officers travelling along the highway that connects the state capital of Guadalajara with the resort town of Puerto Vallarta. The attack killed 15 police officers and injured 5 others, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office revealed.

A former Mexican governor wanted in the U.S. and in Mexico on drug conspiracy and money laundering charges may soon find himself behind bars after a Mexican high court denied his request for an injunction on the warrant issued out for his arrest. A recent ruling by the Second Tribunal in Penal Matters in Mexico sided with a previous ruling by a Mexican federal judge that the arrest warrant against former Tamaulipas governor Tomas Yarrington was valid, Mexico’s SDP Noticias reported.

Two Captured Zetas Commanders Blamed for Kidnappings near Border

Two commanders with Los Zetas who appear to be behind most of the kidnapping and extortion activity in the border city of Nuevo Laredo and the Tamaulipas State Capital of Ciudad Victoria are now behind bars.

Mexico’s Federal Police arrested Sarahi “La Hysteria” Garza Cadena during a traffic stop this past week in the border city of Nuevo Laredo. She was traveling in a car with two of her henchmen. Authorities recovered some weapons, a grenade, 15 kilograms of marijuana and communication equipment during the arrest, information released to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas government revealed.

Mexican Authorities Arrest Zeta Accused in Massacre of 72 Immigrants

One member of the Zetas drug cartel who was tied to the brutal massacre of 72 Central American immigrants in 2010, has been captured by Mexican Federal Police. Lawsuit Highlights Political Favors and Retaliation in Texas Border County

A lawsuit being fought in a Texas State Court accuses current and former Texas border county officials of lowering property tax rates for their allies as a way of providing favors within the political elite. The lawsuit was filed in the 381st State District Court by Luis Rios Jr. the former assistant chief appraiser for Starr County Appraisal District. Rios claimed that one of the members of the board of directors pressured him to lower his property tax rate and that of his relatives.

Déjà vu: Mexican Border TV Station Attacked with Grenades — Twice this Year

Cartel gunmen in Matamoros have thrown a grenade at a Mexican TV station near the Texas border for the second time in as many months. The latest attack took place at the Televisa station. This is the same station that in February, Breitbart Texas reported that two employees were injured when Gulf Cartel gunmen lobbed a grenade at the security booth at the entrance.
