Palin on GOP leadership: ‘It’s not just the New England Patriots who are dealing with deflated balls right now.’

Sarah Palin is using the big sports story of the day to profess herself less than amazed by the Republican leadership. “It’s not just the New England Patriots who are dealing with deflated balls right now,” she said. Let’s hope the Republican Party figures that out before they try taking the 2016 field with a deflated-ball squad that isn’t convinced it has any business in the Democrat end zone.

Japan Turns to Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Palestinians for Help Freeing ISIS Hostages

In their latest Internet hostage video, the Islamic State demanded $200 million from Japan in exchange for the lives of security contractor Haruna Yukawa and freelance journalist Kenji Goto Jogo, promising they would be killed within 72 hours if the ransom was not paid. After vowing that his nation would not submit to terrorist demands, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has asked several prominent Middle Eastern leaders for help, including Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

‘Middle-Class Economics’ vs. Bread-Bag America

America is not made great by its government. Passive “hope for change” is worth nothing compared to active effort. Our true recovery will not be a matter of pouring another $60 billion into the leaky administrative bucket of public education. Recovery will be delivered by people who want an education so badly that they’ll go to school on rainy days with bread bags over their shoes to keep them dry.

The Party That Stands Up for Taxpayers Will Be the Party of Freedom

Another State of the Union speech; another empty pageant of “signals” sent by selecting special guests; another chance for President Obama’s party to create a brief illusion of popularity by furiously applauding pronouncements that will be forgotten within days; and another wish list of billion-dollar spending proposals designed to make the opposition party look bad by blocking them. None of it has anything to do with responsible government, and only the political class will pay much attention.

Obama Touts VA Reform in State of the Union, but He Has Nothing to Brag About

“As a new generation of veterans comes home, we owe them every opportunity to live the American Dream they helped defend,” said President Obama in his 2015 State of the Union address on Tuesday night. He praised a national campaign organized by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden for helping “nearly 700,000 veterans and military spouses get new jobs,” asserting that “already, we’ve made strides” to improve life for veterans in America.

Obama’s deflated-football SOTU speech

Tha annual State of the Union address is the quintessential Beltway performance, a weird little surrealist play in which every scripted line, ad-lib, invited guest, and round of applause is calculated to send messages, settle scores, goose poll numbers, and above all help the Ruling Class feel important.

An Alexandria Police Department squad car is seen outfitted with a license plate scanner mounted to the trunk, Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Alexandria, Va. Local police departments across the country have amassed millions of digital records on the location and movements of vehicles with a license plate using automated scanners. Affixed to police cars, bridges or buildings, the scanners capture images of passing or parked vehicles and note their location, dumping that information into police databases. Departments keep the records for weeks or even years. (AP Photo/Pablo Martinez Monsivais)

Police Departments Quietly Equipped with Device That Lets Them See Through Walls

Modern police have radar guns that allow them to see through the walls of houses, and they’ve been using them for the past two years without telling the public. In fact, they still haven’t formally announced the technology. If no one has briefed him yet, I would like to volunteer to be the guy who tells Senator Rand Paul about the drone that can see through walls.

ObamaCare System Quietly Passing Personal Data to Outside Websites

Remember all those promises about how the ObamaCare website, HealthCare.gov, would be a veritable Fort Knox of data integrity, a super-secure environment where your personal information would be treated like delicate, priceless treasure? Never mind all that! The more your rulers know about you, the better they can predict or manipulate your actions. It was inevitable that data harvested from ObamaCare applications would be stored and put to later use.

ISIS Demands $200 Million Ransom for The Lives of Japanese Hostages

ISIS has released another of its notorious hostage videos, with the masked English-speaking terrorist known as “Jihad John” brandishing a knife and issuing death threats against hostages clad in orange jumpsuits. In this case, the two hostages are Japanese, identified by their captors as Kenji Goto Jogo and Haruna Yukawa. It is said that they will be killed unless the Japanese government pays $200 million in ransom within 72 hours.

Chad Enters the Fray in Growing Battle Against Boko Haram

The battle against the Nigerian-based Islamist terrorist group Boko Haram is heating up. For a variety of reasons, Nigeria’s military has been unable to stop their advance, but when Boko Haram crossed the border into Cameroon they met stiffer resistance, and now Chad is preparing to move troops and equipment into northern Cameroon against the terrorist gang.

‘Reformocons’: How Conservatives Should Stop Worrying and Love the Debt Bomb

It’s not exactly a shocking revelation that liberals are interested in supporting Republicans who want to drag their party to the Left, especially after a historic midterm election where liberalism got its posterior kicked sideways. Give the Left credit for springing into action after just a few days of freaking out at the stupid voters, and writing tear-soaked screeds about how we probably shouldn’t have stupid midterm elections anyway, or maybe we shouldn’t even have Congress–at least not when a liberal Democrat is president. After screaming into their op-ed paper bags for a brief interval, they set about undermining the Republican wave by seeking to convince the winners that they should behave like losers. There are plenty of receptive ears in the Republican power elite for that message.

Charlie Hebdo Massacre Triggers Spike in Jewish Exodus from France

A significant exodus of Jews from France is underway. It began long before the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the killing of innocent Jews at a kosher grocery store, but those events may well inspire further relocation. Scott Ott at PJ Media compiled the emigration figures into a graph, and its rocket-like ascent after 2012 is impossible to miss.

Unemployment and cultural weakness cause radicalism, not poverty

The process of assimilation is obviously a matter of great concern for any nation with generous immigration policies. Immigration without assimilation is akin to colonization. No nation benefits from importing a large population that does not accept its founding principles, or perhaps even its laws. However, assimilation is important for the native-born as well. It is a grave mistake to assume that people born in a given nation, even after several generations of native birth, will automatically assimilate to its culture.

After Missing Unity Rally, Kerry Soothes Paris with James Taylor Concert

Long after the great Charlie Hebdo rally had been held in Paris, and Barack Obama’s absence had been painfully noted by the entire world, Secretary of State John Kerry finally chugged into France–with 70s soft-rock crooner James Taylor in tow–for a performance of “You’ve Got a Friend” that Kerry described, along with the entire visit, as a “big hug” to Paris.

The Western World Is Not Really Dedicated to Free Speech

There is very little concern in the Muslim-controlled world about giving offense to other faiths. Governments dominated by Islam tend to explicitly demote other religions to second-class status–if they’re lucky. Advocating other religions is a swift route to imprisonment or execution, as Pastor Saeed Abedini can attest
