The Supreme Court of the United States ruled on Monday to stay the order of a lower federal court requiring abortion clinics in Texas to close or remain closed. The order from the court in Whole Woman’s Health et al. v. Cole, Comm’r, Texas DHS, et al. maintains the status quo while the Court decides whether to decide the case on the merits on any appeal.
The Texas Attorney General has responded to the “newly invented federal constitutional right to same-sex marriage” created by the “activist” U.S. Supreme Court by telling Texas officials “Texas must speak with one voice against this lawlessness.” He issued an opinion and said Texans must “act on multiple levels to further protect religious liberties for all Texans” and must “immediately do anything we can to help our County Clerks and public officials who now are forced with defending their religious beliefs against the Court’s ruling.”

A 19-year-old immigrant at a family detention facility is reported to have attempted to commit suicide after being told she was being denied parole and asylum. She was staying in the Karnes City, Texas, facility which was opened last year after a flood of unaccompanied minors and families crossed the border illegally.
