One of the unusual aspects of Dodd-Frank is that, in effect, it removed the CFPB from the Congressional appropriations process and gave CFPB what amounts to an unlimited budget.

Louisville businessman Matt Bevin has apparently mounted a spectacular comeback in Kentucky. With all precincts reporting, Bevin leads Agriculture Commissioner James Comer by a whopping 83 votes in the primary to be the Republican party’s nominee for governor.

Retired Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) tells Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that while he served as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Congress exercised no oversight over the activities of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The portrait of Frank that emerges from the exclusive Breitbart interview is of someone totally disinterested in exercising Congressional oversight responsibilities over any CFIUS approved transactions.

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) has sent a letter to Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew asking for answers on the 2010 approval by the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS) of a controversial deal in which the Russian government gained control of 20 percent of America’s uranium deposits.

Rather than convincing a skeptical public that he did not benefit from the ARMZ-Uranium One “deal at the same time that [he was] writing checks to the Clinton Foundation,” a recent statement from the CEO and majority owner of U.S. Global Investors serves only to heighten interest in further disclosures about the company’s transactions.

Lawyers for Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) filed a motion in a Newark federal courtroom this week asking for a change of venue in his public corruption trial. Menendez wants the trial to be held in Washington, D.C., not New Jersey, where the indictment was filed on April 1. Attorneys for his co-defendant, Florida opthalmologist Dr. Salomon Melgen, joined in the request.

This foray into the potholes and backroads of Tennessee is a new area of regulatory control, even for the CFPB. But, as American Banker reported, Congress granted the CFPB the authority to do so in an obscure passage of the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010, known more commonly as the Dodd-Frank Act.

Facing a possible lifetime sentence on the Medicare fraud charges, and an equally lengthy sentence in the public corruption charges, Melgen may reconsider how strong those ties of friendship with Sen. Bob Menendez are. Menendez, who is free on bond and continues to conduct his duties as a Senator in Washington, is facing only one trial. Dr. Melgen, in contrast, faces two trials and may not see the outside of a jail cell for a very long time.

The federal government aims to “protect” consumers by regulating away a payment option that’s popular with low-income Americans.

In a political debacle of her own creation, Clinton now finds herself in a position where, in order to prove that she was not beholden to Uranium One executives for donations made to the Clinton Foundation prior to the CFIUS approval of the sale of their business to a company owned by the Russian government, she is now beholden to the authoritarian leader of that same Russian government.

By attempting to downplay the role the Department of State played in approving the Uranium One-ARMZ transaction which financially benefited Uranium One executives who had contributed millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation, the Clinton campaign has, instead, unwittingly put itself on the defensive again.

For the fun loving Dr. Melgen, a well known international jet setter who “suffers from attention deficit disorder and takes sleep medication,” three weeks and counting in a Florida jail is bound to take a toll.

The speedy approval of the ARMZ-Uranium One transaction (CFIUS Case No. 10-40) raises the possibility that the deal may have received expedited treatment, though the management of Canadian based Uranium One stated in a Management Information Circular/Notice to Shareholders published August 6, 2010 and dated August 3, 2010 that “Uranium One and ARMZ intend to submit a joint voluntary notice with CFIUS during the first week of August 2010.”

Recent research published by the Daily Beast on Tuesday suggests that Benjamin Cole may have been a slaveholder but not a slaveowner, a distinction that may not seem to be a difference to those of us in the modern era, but which would have been significant back in the 1850s. Still, the bottom line on Affleck’s great-great-great grandfather Benjamin Cole is this: he was a slaveholder in 1860, and may have been either a slaveholder or slave owner in 1850, and possibly both.

Not only has Jeb Bush’s team developed an integrated campaign strategy among three related organizations that is highly sophisticated, it appears to have been able to staff up almost entirely from existing relationships within the RNC and Republican establishment. In contrast, Marco Rubio is apparently the only other candidate to date who has landed a staffer with a high profile RNC pedigree.

The relative ease with which Breitbart News was able to find these nine additional slaveholding ancestors of Ben Affleck calls into question the integrity of the genealogical research undertaken on Affleck’s behalf by Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, executive producer of the “Finding Your Roots” series.

The question those conducting the PBS “internal review” of the Affleck-Gates controversy must be asking themselves now is this: how can a program that purports to present true family history be believed when it appears that much of the true history has been concealed, and some of the claimed history is simply wrong?

Hollywood movie star Ben Affleck and Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates continue to revise recent history in their public statements surrounding Affleck’s successful pressuring of Gates, executive producer and host of the PBS series “Finding Your Roots,” to remove any mention of his slaveholding ancestor, Benjamin L. Cole, from the “Roots of Freedom” episode that aired on PBS in October.

Breitbart News has tracked down one likely suspect for the slaveholding ancestor Ben Affleck wants to disown. It may be Benjamin L. Cole of Savannah, Georgia. In 1850, Benjamin L. Cole owned 25 slaves, according to the Chatham County, Georgia Schedule of Slaves enumerated in the 1850 United States Census.

Senator Robert Menendez and Dr. Salomon Melgen are under indictment on federal corruption charges. But a third key player, the man who actually organized a controversial 2012 meeting, is Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). He’s being protected by a selective Department of Justice, a stonewalling Capitol Police, and a compliant and incurious mainstream media and remains unindicted. He’s even threatening to hijack the United States Senate and force a vote on the controversial Attorney General nomination of Loretta Lynch.
