A critical vote in a House Committee on Thursday unanimously passed H.R. 774, the “Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing Enforcement Act of 2015.” It’s goal is to stop foreign and illegal fishing in US waters. Two Texas Legislators have been named to GOPAC’s 2015 Class of Emerging Leaders. One state senator and one state representative. Being a freshman senator from the largest state senate district in the United States is tough work, but that is already being recognized by GOPAC, a conservative think-tank, as they named Texas State Senator Charles Perry to the 2015 Class of Emerging Leaders. State Representative Craig Goldman (R-Fort Worth) was also named to the list.

The stack of charges includes sex trafficking, harboring people illegally in the U.S., and money laundering. Deputy U.S. Attorney Reuben Perez says that Hortencia Medeles, 68, could receive life in prison without parole if found guilty on all charges. The charges relate to a human trafficking ring which took place in two Houston area nightclubs that served as brothels for underaged girls and other trafficking victims.

Williamson County Court at Law #2 Judge Timothy L. Wright III found himself on the wrong end of a nine count federal indictment. He has been charged with allegedly selling guns to a known felon, helping export those guns, and they lying on the paperwork and to a federal agent about the entire affair. The Purple Heart medal was finally presented to 47 wounded soldiers, civilians and to the families of those who were killed in the 2009 massacre at Fort Hood. Nearly 5,000 members of the hyper-violent MS-13 gang have been arrested in the United States since 2005 according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) statement released on Wednesday. The arrest occurred as part of “Operation Community Shield” which paired Homeland Security agents with other federal law agencies, state county and even city police targeting gang members. The numbers are staggering. 36,000 total arrests linking to 2,600 gangs. 46 were repeat violent offenders, and more than 6,600 firearms taken off the streets.

The latest in a long series of sophisticated cross-border smuggling tunnels has been discovered and seized in Tijuana, Mexico. Mexican police found the sub-surface project on Tuesday in a house adjacent to the Tijuana airport. Though it measured more than 500 feet long, it was still short of the US border.
