When Is the Statute of Limitations on Blaming Bush?

President Obama may not like it but the American people finally need to declare a statute of limitations for blaming Bush.   Obama is traveling around making appearances uttering some semblance of the words “we didn’t know how bad it was” in defense of his proposed budget and the dire economic outlook for our country.

It is a complete lie.

Obama made comment after comment pointing out the severity of the American economic condition long before he was President and repeatedly since then.  He promised to cut the deficit by half at the end of his first term in which he now claims he was unable to do “because this recession turned out to be a lot deeper than any of us realized“.

In a September 2008 Presidential debate, Obama stated, “We are going through the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression”.  That sound like foreknowledge of the seriousness of the situation to me.

The one thing Obama absolutely will not do is take any responsibility for his failed policies of the last three years; policies that have driven us into unfathomable economic danger.

Obama frequently speaks about the negative legacy passed from the Bush administration.  The legacy he  inherited included gas that was averaging $1.60 a gallon and is now being projected at reaching $5 dollars a gallon by the summer.  He was given a national debt that was over $7 trillion dollars which has now increased on his watch to over $15 trillion. And if congress passed Obama’s new budget plan the debt would reach $19.5 trillion by 2022.

On his radio program Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh aired the sound bites of Obama stating how he didn’t know how bad it was.   Limbaugh criticized Obama’s lack of assuming responsibility for the situation.

“Are we ever going to hear that anything is Obama’s fault? Ever?” Limbaugh said, “After three years, this isn’t Bush’s budget, this isn’t Bush’s plan, this is not Bush’s philosophy. We’ve had three years of Obamaism. We have a three-year record. We have over $5 trillion in new debt added by one man: Him.”

It’s key to recall Obama was also handed, on a silver platter, both houses of Congress.  For the first two years of this administration, Obama had full reign.  He got everything he wanted.  His outrageous stimulus bill passed easily costing the American taxpayers $821 billion dollars and in turn it only drove us deeper into an economic pit of despair.  It didn’t save our economy and certainly didn’t create jobs as promised.  This lies solely on Obama and the Democrats.  I’m pretty sure Bush was golfing that day and had nothing to do with the stimulus package passed in 2009.

Sadly, a recent Rasmussen poll shows 40% of likely voters have bought into the notion and the Obama political machine that it’s Bush’s fault.  And if that is the direction you choose to go, you may also want to take in account, as Limbaugh pointed out, that the once Senator Obama voted for every single one of Bush’s spending increases.

Obama knew the situation and made poor choices in attempting to resolve the situation.  And even if he never accepts it, Obama is responsible. This is his watch, his administration and his time to be held accountable.
