DNC head: GOP 'callous' toward women

WASHINGTON, April 8 (UPI) —
U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., said Sunday the Republican party is “callous and insensitive towards women’s priorities.”

She said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that women aren’t going to stand for some of the policies proposed lately by the GOP, particularly those regarding contraception. Wasserman Schultz, who heads the Democratic National Committee, said she disagreed with Republicans saying these policies should not be called a war on women.

She pointed out that most Republicans serving in Congress voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the law that says women deserve equal pay for equal work.
