Tom Barrett has widened his lead over Kathleen Falk in a battle over who will represent Labor against Scott Walker in Wisconsin’s June 5th recall election.
Barrett stands at 38% to Falk’s 21%, according to Marquette University Law School’s latest poll.
An interesting difference between the candidates: Falk’s campaign focuses on rolling back the successful reforms implemented by Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, whereas Barrett has avoided challenging Walker’s record directly. Interestingly enough, those polled did not cite the restoration of collective bargaining rights for public workers as their number one issue.
If it comes down to a fight on the issues between Barrett (or even Falk) and Walker, the Labor-backed candidate will lose. It’s hard to argue against savings of nearly a billion dollars with public jobs saved and no tax increases.
