The leading politicians of the Massachusetts Democratic Party establishment circled the wagons around Elizabeth Warren this afternoon when Governor Deval Patrick endorsed her at a hastily called press conference.
“I love this candidate,” the Governor said of Warren. “I’m excited about this candidate.”
But Democratic supporters lent a Kafkaesque quality to the press conference when, as the Boston Herald reported “[s]upporters packed into the headquarters and booed reporters when they asked Warren about her undocumented claims about her Cherokee past. Patrick also jumped to her defense answering the question himself.”
The Governor dismissed today’s demands by the group Cherokees Demand Truth from Elizabeth Warren with the same attitude the candidate displayed in her statement this afternoon.
“We don’t care about that subject,” said Patrick.
