US trade gap shrinks in April on falling imports

The US trade deficit narrowed in April from March, as imports fell more sharply than exports, government data showed Friday in a report pointing to softening demand in the fragile economy.

The trade gap shrank to $50.1 billion, from an upwardly revised $52.6 billion in March, the Commerce Department said.
