Rubio Endorses Obama El Salvador Nominee

Tea Party favorite Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has said that he will vote with Democrats if he has to in order to confirm President Obama’s choice for ambassador to El Salvador. Obama’s current ambassador, Mari Carmen Aponte, was a recess appointment; she’s controversial because she has been linked to a Cuban spy two decades ago. Some Republicans wanted Obama to take harsher measures with certain South American countries, and used Aponte’s appointment to press for those measures.

“Since Sen. Rubio’s opposition was never based on her personally and the administration has address(ed) his policy concerns, he looks forward to voting for her whenever Senator [Harry] Reid (D-NV) brings her up for another vote,” said Rubio’s spokesman.
