Romney On SCOTUS Decision: 'I Will Act to Repeal ObamaCare' On Day One

In a statement today in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold ObamaCare, presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney said he agreed with the opinion of those Justices who dissented and that he will act to repeal and replace ObamaCare on “day one.”

“What the Supreme Court did not do on its last day in session, I will do in my first day in office,” he said. “I will act to repeal Obamacare.”

Governor Romney also reminded the American people that ObamaCare means a half-trillion dollars in new taxes and a half-trillion dollar cut in Medicare.

Romney framed the upcoming election as a referendum on ObamaCare; a choice between freedom and bigger government. The former Massachusetts Governor also asked the American people to help him defeat President Obama’s health care plan, marking it as a clear battle line in the upcoming election.

Reminding voters of the mammoth Medicare cut included in Obama’s monstrosity is a very smart political move on Romney’s part. Though the cut was obviously inserted as an accounting gimmick that allowed the CBO to score the Orwellian-named Affordable Care Act as “deficit neutral,” it is something Romney can use to shield any Medicare reforms he might have planned and in a litany of campaign ads.
