President Obama is about to hit the Big 5-1. And he’s feeling pretty sorry for himself. At least that’s what readers can gather from his latest campaign missive, titled simply “Hey”:
My upcoming birthday next week could be the last one I celebrate as President of the United States, but that’s not up to me — it’s up to you.
This July deadline is our most urgent yet, coming after two consecutive months of being significantly outraised by Romney and the Republicans.
And if you pitch in $3 or whatever you can before midnight tonight, you and a guest will be automatically entered to join me at my birthday get-together next month:
Thanks. Hope I’ll see you soon.
Cue the world’s smallest violin. Are we supposed to feel bad for President Obama that his next birthday party may be his last in the White House? For many Americans, thanks to President Obama, their next birthday may be their last at their current job. Yet President Obama is using his birthday as a ploy to fundraise. Next, he’ll have to fundraise from his christening.
