At a campaign stop in Colorado on Wednesday, President Barack Obama attempted to win over women voters by complaining about how First Lady Michelle Obama did not receive a salary for her First Lady duties.
“I want to make sure that when she’s working she’s getting paid the same as men,” Obama said. “I gotta say that First Ladies right now don’t [get paid], even though that’s a tough job!”
The campaign event focused on women’s issues, and Obama was introduced at the event by Sandra Fluke, who allowed herself to be used by liberals as a symbol in their “war on women” campaign against Republicans.
Foreign nations, like Germany, pay some women who are stay-at-home moms. And some liberal commenters, like MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, once suggested the federal government should pay stay-at-home moms and give them federal benefits.
Let’s hope these comments were not reflective of a president who shares views similar to those of liberals like Hayes.
