Remembering the Troops This Thanksgiving

The holiday season kicks off with Thanksgiving, a day for Americans across the country to gather with family and friends to celebrate the things we are thankful for in our lives.  I hope everyone took some time to give thanks to the heroic members of our Armed Forces, past and present, who have given so much for our freedom in this great nation. They put their lives on the line so that you and I can enjoy the blessings of liberty, and we are truly grateful for them.

From the Revolution to the War on Terror, Americans have time and again answered the call to duty.  Our soldiers and their families know that they’re serving for something bigger than themselves. They know that they are not only protecting us all from harm, but that they’re out there fighting for our very way of life.Without the sacrifices made by our brave men and women in uniform each and every day, you and I could not enjoy the freedom that America provides.

But as our men and women serve across the world, they are not the only ones sacrificing.  They leave their families at home to bear the burden and wear the worry. Many in our military ranks have served multiple tours overseas.  The stress on those families with sons, daughters, husbands, and wives serving must be overwhelming, especially during the holiday season.

So as you enjoy the holidays, please say a prayer and give thanks to those who are away from home protecting our freedom and remember the military families who have missing seats at the dinner table, especially ones that will never be filled again.

Hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving and God bless our troops!
