Heroic: School Principal 'Lunged' at Shooter Before Being Killed

Sandy Hook Elementary principal Dawn Hochsprung lunged at Adam Lanza, the shooter who massacred 20 children and 6 adults on Friday, before he shot and killed her. According to witnesses, one of Hochsprung’s last actions was activating the school’s public address system, which alerted others in the school of the threat and “undoubtedly” prevented more bloodshed.

Board of Education chairwoman Debbie Liedlien told ABC News that Hochspring confronted the shooter after she was coming out of a meeting.

Jeff Capeci, chairman of Newtown’s Legislative Council, said, “from what we know, it’s hard to classify her as anything else” but a hero.
