Newtown Residents Head to DC to Push Gun Control

Today, a group of relatives of shooting victims from across the country and residents of Newtown, Connecticut headed to Capitol Hill to stump for gun control. None of those present were relatives of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

A group of gun control advocating Newtown residents organized on Saturday in Newtown, and labeled themselves Newtown United. Then they headed to Washington, D.C. to join the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence’s press conference.

More than 40 relatives of shooting victims spoke, including Tom Mauser, whose son was killed in the 1999 Columbine High School massacre, and relatives of victims in the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shootings this year, as well as relatives of victims in the Virginia Tech killings in 2007.
