Obama Spends Christmas Eve Golfing

HONOLULU, Dec. 24 (UPI) —

President Obama’s Christmas Eve began with a workout at a military base in Hawaii, followed by two rounds of golf and a beach outing with his family.

While the president was on the links, first lady Michelle Obama spent about 30 minutes helping to answer telephone calls from children, the (Honolulu) Star-Advertiser reported. She was connected by videolink with volunteers at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado where the North American Aerospace Defense Command was tracking Santa’s sleigh.

The Obamas arrived in Hawaii Saturday for Christmas in the state where the president was born.

Obama played golf in the morning with three Hawaiian friends, Bobby Titcomb, Mike Ramos and Greg Orme. He played another round in the afternoon with Titcomb and Ramos, White House chef Sam Kass, and an aide, Marvin Nicholson.

In late afternoon, the Obamas and their two daughters visited Pyramid Rock Beach at Peterson Air Force Base.
