Graham: Hagel 'Clueless'

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) made remarks about the nomination of Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense that indicated he might be leaning toward rejecting the nomination. Graham said:

I thought his confirmation hearing was disturbing. We don’t have enough information. We haven’t gotten the information we requested. I don’t think we should vote on him until we get all the things we’ve requested on all the speeches he’s made. I hope the administration will reconsider his nomination. He’s a good man, but these are dangerous times. What kind of signal are you sending to the Iranians when your secretary of defense is clueless about what your policy is?

Graham didn’t take a side in the dispute between Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell who favors filibustering the nomination, and Senator John McCain, who’s against it. He stated:

I’m going to try to make sure that I get all the information — he made 15 speeches for money, I want to know what he said. I want to get all the information available to us so we can make an informed decision. But I can tell you this–I’ve never seen the world more dangerous than it is now.
