Deli Owner, 86-Year-Old Woman Use Guns to Defend Selves

The owner of a deli and an 86-year-old woman are alive today because of their guns.

On Tuesday night in Philadelphia’s Tacony section, a man aimed his gun at the female cashier, who is also the deli’s owner’s wife. When the man started to take money out of the register, the woman screamed. Her husband heard the screams, grabbed his gun, and ran to the front of the store.

The suspect took one shot at the owner and missed. The owner returned fire and hit the suspect in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Thankfully the owners were not injured.

Homicide detectives interviewed the couple, but they will not be charged. The couple have owned the deli for 35 years and are a favorite among the neighbors.

In Bulls Gap, TN, an 86-year-old woman used a gun to defend herself against a home invader. Last Friday, a young woman forced herself into Louise Howard’s house. Howard grabbed her gun and the two wrestled down the hall.

Howard did not drop her gun. The suspect hit Howard’s elbow and a bullet from the gun went into the wall. Unfortunately, the suspect got away and took Howard’s purse.

This was not the first time Howard was robbed. She had enough and decided to defend herself.

“I told different people if I ever catch them, I mean to kill them,” said Howard.

Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said Howard was within her rights to use her gun for protection.
