Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), a Tea Party surprise Congressional elect in 2010, then lost to Democrat Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) in a redrawn district in the 2012 election cycle, is launching a Super PAC to fight the Karl Rove-led Conservative Victory Project. “I’m filing the paperwork to form a super PAC to support freedom-loving conservative alternatives to @KarlRove,” Walsh tweeted on Tuesday.
The Conservative Victory Project has been under heavy fire since a New York Times article describing the group as standing up for incumbents against Tea Party challengers. “They want power, and they will sacrifice principle for power,” Amy Kremer, head of Tea Party Express stated.
Opposition to Rove’s declarations about the Tea Party has grown over the past week, leading Rove to take to the airwaves to announce his support for the Tea Party.
