Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., with a looming term in prison of 46 to 57 years awaiting him for using $750,000 in campaign funds for celebrity memorabilia, furs, a cruise, stuffed elk heads and a Rolex watch, is writing a book to “clear up his legacy.”

One source who has seen the memoir’s draft explained, “He has nothing else to do right now… (he’s trying to) “clear up his legacy. … He’s desperately trying to change the narrative of his life story.”

Jackson had taken a leave of absence in the spring of last year for bipolar disorder, then resigned from office last November.

He may have some help with his book while he’s in jail; his wife, ex-alderman Sandi, is going to prison, too. She received a two-year sentence on February 20 for filing false tax returns.
