Report: Missouri Republicans Could Cave on Medicaid Expansion

After Missouri House Republicans rejected plans by Democrats to expand Medicaid under Obamacare last week, Missouri’s Republican state Senators may be working to enable the expansion.

According to a RedState report, state Senator Mike Parson has filed SB 456, described as a “‘shell’ of legislation into which multiple sources in and around the Missouri legislator expect they’ll put an expansion of Medicaid.”

Doing so would defy the will of the people in Missouri; in 2010, Missouri became the first state to have a referendum on Obamacare. Seventy-one percent of Missourians voted against the new healthcare law.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, has called on the state to expand Medicaid so the state could receive more federal funding under Obamacare.
