Extreme Left Group Pushes Tea Party Challenge to McConnell

The far-left Kentucky group Progress KY is now openly encouraging Matthew Bevin to run in the Republican primary against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). Chances of a primary to challenge to McConnell are fading dramatically, particularly in the aftermath of Kentucky junior senator Rand Paul endorsing McConnell.

Far-left funding for so-called Tea Party candidates has been a problem in several primary races around the country over the last several years. Democratic money poured into Todd Akin (R-MO) in the Republican Senate primary during the 2012 cycle, for example.

Progress KY is also the super PAC that ran a campaign against McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, based on her Chinese heritage. That racist campaign was met with a collective shrug by the mainstream media.
