WH: Not Hypocritical for Obama to Fundraise Against GOP While Asking for Bipartisanship

The White House does not think it is hypocritical for President Barack Obama to claim that he wants to work with Republicans on bipartisan solutions while fundraising on San Francisco’s “Billionaires’ Row” to help Democrats take back the House in 2014 so House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) can become House Speaker.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that such lavish fundraisers were “traditional exercises,” and Obama would “continue to work with and expect and hope to work with Republicans in Congress to achieve bipartisan compromise on a whole host of important issues.”

Obama fundraised for national Democratic committees in San Francisco on Wednesday and in Atherton, California on Thursday.

Obama and Democrats need to win 17 seats to take back the House in 2014. Obama has indicated he would like nothing more than to have two years to ram through any piece of liberal legislation he wants if Democrats can hold the Senate and take back the House in 2014.
