Three Shot at Pro-Marijuana 4/20 Rally in Denver

Three people were shot and wounded at what was supposedly the world’s largest “4/20” pro-marijuana rally in Denver, Colorado on Saturday.

According to Denver police, “a man and a woman were each shot in the leg and a youth was grazed by a bullet, but the wounds were not life-threatening.” Officers are still looking for the suspects.

Cole Wagenknecht, who attended the rally, said he heard shots in succession and “everybody started to scatter and ran toward one end of the park” when they realized the noise was not from fireworks.

Last year, Colorado approved a measure legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, but Colorado residents are still forbidden to use the drug in public.

Mario Lopez, the organizer of the rally, said around 80,000 people attended the rally (Denver police disputed the number) that was intended to send a “grassroots” message to federal authorities to stop prosecuting pot users.
