Forensic Evidence May Link Suspected Boston Bombers to Unsolved 2011 Triple Murder

The suspected Boston bombers–Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev–may have been involved in an unsolved 2011 triple homicide.

Massachusetts investigators said they had “mounting evidence” and “forensic hits” that may implicate the brothers in the gruesome murder of three people, including Brendan Mess, who was one of Tamerlan’s best friends at the time.

The victims reportedly had their throats slit. Marijuana was dumped on their bodies and $5,000 in cash was left at the scene.

Officials said more definitive testing is needed before they could indict Dzhokhar, though.

Law enforcement officials told ABC News that in addition to the forensic evidence, cell phone records indicate that the Tsarnaev brothers may have been “in the area of the murders on that date.”
