Another Pro-Stewart Mailer From Mysterious Group in VA GOP Race for Lt. Gov.

Breitbart News has learned that the mysterious Virginians for Limited Government (VLG) group has sent out another direct mailer. On Thursday, a direct mail piece paid for by VLG arrived in the mailbox of at least one Virginian, who forwarded a copy of it to Breitbart News. The mailer clearly supports one candidate for the Republican nomination for Lieutenant Governor, Corey Stewart, and opposes two others, E.W. Jackson, and Pete Snyder.

The disclaimer at the bottom of the mailer reads as follows: “Paid for by Virginians for Limited Government. This message benefits Corey Stewart and is not authorized by or coordinated with any candidates.”

At 4 p.m. EDT Monday, more than 96 hours after this VLG funded mailer arrived in the mail box of at least one Virginian, a spokesperson for the Virginia State Board of Elections (SBE) told Breitbart News that VLG had faxed in two additional expenditure reports providing details of this mailing. Virginia election law clearly requires that independent expenditure reports from political action committees registered with the Virginia SBE are “due within 24 hours of the time when the funds were expended or dissemination of the expenditure (whichever is first).”

Breitbart News obtained copies of the two new independent expenditure reports filed by VLG on Monday from the Virginia SBE, and they showed that the group spent an additional $11,851 on a mailer that the reports described as 34% in favor of Corey Stewart, 34% in opposition to Pete Snyder, and 34% in opposition to E.W. Jackson.

As Breitbart News reported on Sunday, VLG could be in violation of Virginia election law for failing to file its required Statement of Organization.

Breitbart News has emailed Lee Goodman, who was the registered agent for VLG when it was organized as a Virginia corporation on April 27, 2012 for comment on this report. Mr. Goodman also serves as General Counsel to the Republican Party of Virginia. He has not yet responded to our request.

Sources tell Breitbart News that Mr. Goodman still represents VLG, but when contacted by Breitbart News previously he refused to comment.
