Rand: Obama 'Losing the Moral Authority to Lead'

Appearing on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said that President Obama’s “moral authority to lead” has crumbled. Referring to the troika of scandals now plaguing the administration – the IRS targeting of conservative non-profits, the Department of Justice’s targeting of reporters, and the administration’s obfuscations over the Benghazi terror attacks of September 11, 2012 – Paul stated, “I think the constellation of these three scandals really takes away from the president’s moral authority to lead the nation. No one questions his legal authority. But I really think he’s losing the moral authority to lead this nation.”

President Obama’s approval ratings remain at approximately 50%, but the public is increasingly concerned about the scandals surrounding the White House. Despite Obama’s majority approval, just 26% of Americans strongly approve of the job he is doing, while 39% strongly disapprove.
