President Barack Obama has scheduled a meeting in the Oval Office on Tuesday with Vice President Joe Biden and the leaders of the House and Senate.
Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), Senate Minority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), and House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will join Obama and Biden in a meeting that will be “private and closed to the media.”
The meeting comes after Obama called on the House to act on “comprehensive immigration reform” if the Senate passes its bill later this week. On Monday, the Senate voted 67-27 to cut off debate on the so-called “border surge” amendment and move the amnesty bill forward.
According to the Associated Press, Obama “last met with all four leaders on March 1” after the sequester went into effect.
