Gun Rights Supporters Defiant On Steps Of Colorado Capitol

As Colorado’s new ban on the sale and possession of “high capacity” magazines went into effect on July 1, gun control opponents gathered on the front steps of the state capitol and “swapped and sold high capacity magazines in plain view of police officers, daring them to make an arrest.”

According CBS Denver, dozens of protesters gathered as rally organizer Ryan Tulega said: “The government knows [this law] is unenforceable. It’s feel good legislation.”

Although no arrests were made, state representative Dan Pabon (D-Denver) warned the protesters that they may not have it so easy in the future. He said they got a pass on July 1 because it was the first day the law took effect. “There’s a lot more opportunities and a lot more education that’s going to happen in law enforcement over the next several days to make sure that if there is illegal conduct with respect to magazines, those laws will indeed be enforced.”
