Body of U.S. Sen. Mark Udall's Brother, James, Found in Wyoming

PINEDALE, Wyo., July 3 (UPI) — The body of U.S. Sen. Mark Udall’s 61-year-old brother James was found in the mountains of Wyoming’s Wind River Range after a six-day search, authorities said.

James Udall, who also went by the name Randy, was hiking in Wyoming’s Wind River Range and had been expected to come out June 26, the Colorado Democrat’s office said Monday.

His body was found Wednesday after an operation involving ground teams and two helicopters coordinated by Tip Top Search and Rescue of Pinedale, Wyo., The Denver Post reported. Details of how he died were not reported.

James Udall, a Carbondale, Colo., native, was an experienced trekker who had hiked alone in the mountains before.

“Randy left this earth doing what he loved most: hiking in his most favorite mountain range in the world,” the Udall family said in a statement.
