Long Beach Councilman Urges Crackdown on Ice Cream Trucks

Councilman Dee Andrews of the Long Beach City Council is a man on a mission…to shut down ice cream trucks. Andrews wants the municipal code changed to bar “the nuisance that Ice Cream Trucks create.” The ice cream trucks would be barred from blaring music while parked and distributing their wares. Andrews says that the trucks disrupt “residents’ peace and quiet” with their “constant procession of songs at high levels,” which “can be heard throughout the day and into the evening hours for several blocks.”

Andrews says there are no laws on the books stopping ice cream trucks from broadcasting their music while parked. July 9 marks the crucial date for ice cream truck defenders – that’s when Andrews will introduce the item to the agenda.
