Spitzer, Weiner Lead in Polls

Disgraced former NY officials Eliot Spitzer and Anthony Weiner are on top of their respective polls, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released on Monday.

The poll showed Spitzer’s run for city comptroller with plenty of heat; he leads  Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, 48% to 33%. Among women, a targeted constituency of his, Spitzer leads 44% to 32%. With the black community, Spitzer hooked 61%, as opposed to 26% for Stringer.

In the NY mayoral race, Weiner tipped the poll at 25%, followed by City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, at 22%, former City Comptroller Bill Thompson, at 11%, public advocate Bill de Blasio with 10% and Comptroller John Liu with 7%.

Among women, Quinn barely led Weiner, 23% to 21%.
