CA Gov. 'Moonbeam' Brown Vacationing in Ireland, Germany for 2 Weeks

California Governor Jerry Brown (D) is leaving the state to Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom (D) for two weeks. He will fly with his wife to visit Ireland and Germany, the homelands of two of his great-grandfathers.

Brown said he intends to have meetings with the Irish prime minister and German government officials, but the trip is primarily a pleasure trip. Brown’s sister and brother-in-law are traveling with him and he is paying for the trip himself.

Brown stated that he will meet with energy officials and will visit an electric car plant. He said, “Germany is the world leader in solar and wind. We’re trying to do something similar here in California.”

In April, Brown visited China and toured the headquarters of an electric car and bus manufacturer in Shenzhen. The China trip was funded by the Bay Area Council, a nonprofit organization of pro-Brown state business leaders.
