COMMENTARY: Why Won't Pelosi Condemn San Diego Mayor?

Now that San Diego mayor Bob Filner has been exposed as a sexual harasser, and his disgusting treatment of women has gone public, you can just bet that the arch-patron saint of women’s causes, Nancy Pelosi, will jump in with both feet with a firm condemnation.

Oops, no. Filner, like Bill Clinton before him, is a Democrat, which means that when Pelosi is asked what should happen to Filner as a result of his lewd behavior, she suddenly becomes non-judgmental. Pelosi’s response, when asked, went like this:

What goes on in San Diego is up to the people of San Diego. I’m not here to make any judgments or be fully versed on what happened there. My colleagues, who do represent San Diego have made their statements on the subject, but that’s all I’ll say about that.

No surprise here. Remember when Pelosi championed the FBI investigation for GOP Rep. Mark Foley after he was reportedly stalking an underage House page on the internet? Yet the same woman, when confronted with the evidence of Rep. Anthony Weiner’s lewd conduct, said the decision of what to do with him should be made by “the individual member” and the voters in his district.

Pelosi and hypocrisy. Quite a pair.
