Another Bad Week for Bloomberg's Gun Control Group

On July 22, Breitbart News reported that mayors around the country were jumping ship from NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s “Mayors Against Illegal Guns” (MAIG). Since February, around 50 members had left, and many said the group’s obsession with pushing for more gun control is what drove them away.

Now enter Fargo, ND, Mayor Dennis Walaker; although he is a member of MAIG, he has taken part in fewer and fewer of the group’s activities, so much so that he will not attend the rally MAIG is holding in Fargo on July 29.

According to GrandForksHerald.com,  Walaker explains: “I’ve never resigned, but I’m not an active member either. So I don’t plan on attending.”

Walaker is the only North Dakota Mayor in MAIG. He says the NRA has made life difficult from the moment he joined and that being in the group is “just not worth it,” he added.

He said the purpose behind the July 29 rally is to pressure Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) into changing her mind on gun control, but he admitted, “I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
