Sen. Lee (R-UT): 'We Can Delay' Obamacare

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said on Fox News Sunday that he didn’t believe that efforts to defund Obamacare would result in a government shutdown. “We all know the government is going to get funded. The only question is whether the government gets funded with Obamacare or without,” he said. Lee is spearheading an attempt by Senate Republicans to stop any bill that spends cash on Obamacare.

Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) has called the idea the “dumbest” he has ever heard, and other establishment Republicans are opposing Lee as well. “I understand there’s some in the Washington establishment – some from both political parties – who weren’t happy with me on this,” Lee said. “And in this instance, I’m going to take it as a compliment, an indicator that I’m doing something right. The fact is, we can delay this bill. Maybe we can’t repeal it right now, but we can delay its funding. And if we can delay it, we can stop its consequences, at least for now.”
