Warren Blasts Supreme Court for Favoring Big Business

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) complained that the Supreme Court was a right-wing institution that protected big-business interests on Sunday.

According to Politico, Warren made her comments on a panel on the opening day of the AFL-CIO convention and attacked the “corporate capture of the federal courts.”

“You follow this pro-corporate trend to its logical conclusion, and sooner or later you’ll end up with a Supreme Court that functions as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Big Business,” Warren said.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka also assailed the court and said a constitutional amendment may be needed to reverse the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling. Warren and Trumka’s remarks may be a preview of an issue Democrats will try to use to gin up their base in the 2016 election.
