Group Behind CO Recall Pushing for Full Repeal: 'We Won and Now We Want More'

The spokeswoman for the group that led the historic recall last week of two Colorado state legislators said her group will continue to push the ball down the field to get the laws repealed. The recalled legislators  supported the state’s restrictive gun control legislation that Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper signed into law earlier this year.

Jennifer Kerns, of the Basic Freedom Defense Fund, appeared on Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 with Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon and said her group sent a letter to all of Colorado’s state legislators. The letter asked if they would vote for a full repeal of Colorado’s unconstitutional gun laws and, if the vote failed, if they would support a ballot initiative to repeal the laws.

“We won and now we want more,” Kerns said.

She urged listeners to go to coloradorecall.com or recallandrepeal.com to support the group’s efforts.

Last week, voters in Colorado recalled state Senators Angela Giron (D-Pueblo) and John Morse (D-Colo. Springs) despite the $350,000 outgoing New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg spent to keep the legislators in office.

Kerns said ultimately, the David versus Goliath effort to recall the senators tapped into the “power of the people and the grassroots” against the political establishment.

She said the recall effort started out as “five or six guys taking on the establishment” and mentioned that groups like Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns, President Barack Obama’s campaign organization, and former President Bill Clinton gave the state senators additional support, adding to the nearly six-to-one financial advantage they had over proponents of the recall effort.
She emphasized the group was “taking no prisoners” and “taking a page out of the left’s playbook” to build on its success to get a full repeal of the gun control laws.
