After successfully pressuring Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz into writing an open letter asking Americans not to open-carry their firearms in Starbucks anymore, gun control proponents have set their sites on Staples.
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America was one of the groups that asked Starbucks to change its gun friendly policy, and now Forbes says the group is pushing Staples to change its national policy on guns.
The retail chain’s current gun policy allows each store to allow or ban concealed carry as that store sees fit; Moms Demand Action wants a ban on guns at every store across the nation.
This month, Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts sent a letter to Staples CEO Ronald Sargent stating, “There is no guarantee that even a well-meaning individual knows how to properly carry and handle a gun.”
As Breitbart News reported in August when numerous Seattle businesses considered banning guns on their premises, such a ban not only sends a signal that law abiding gun owners aren’t welcome but also informs criminals that no one in the business can defend him or herself in the event of a crime.
