Cuccinelli: I'm Strongest 'Pro-Liberty' Statewide Elected Official in My Lifetime

On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, Virginia attorney general and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli said he has been the strongest “pro-liberty” statewide elected official in the history of Virginia.

His remarks come less than two weeks before an election that Cuccinelli may lose if “libertarian” candidate Robert Sarvis siphons votes from him. Cuccinelli has trailed Democrat Terry McAuliffe by double digits while Sarvis usually polls near 10 percent in statewide polls.

“I am the strongest pro-liberty statewide elected official in my lifetime in Virginia,” Cuccinelli said to Breitbart News Executive Chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon, noting that he has opposed the biggest opponent of liberty, which he termed the federal government. Cuccinelli, for instance, was the first attorney general in the nation to challenge Obamacare.

He also emphasized that he has gone to court to exonerate wrongfully convicted individuals as the state’s attorney general, saying he is the attorney general “who has helped exonerate the most wrongfully convicted felons” in Virginia’s history and emphasized that he fights for “liberty top to bottom.”

“We’ve never had anyone in any other statewide office in Virginia that has fought as hard for liberty as I have in my lifetime,” Cuccinelli said.

As Breitbart’s Dr. Susan Berry wrote, though Sarvis is the announced Libertarian candidate, “Cuccinelli likely has more to offer libertarians in the state than Sarvis,” and that is why libertarian Ron Paul and his son Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) have both endorsed Cuccinelli.

The Washington Examiner observed that Cuccinelli “would arguably be the most libertarian governor in the United States” if he defeats McAuliffe because of his record as attorney general.

Cuccinelli, on Breitbart News Sunday, predicted that the campaign’s “ground war” would help him prevail against McAuliffe.
