House 2014 Calender Released, Meets 113 Days in 2014

WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 (UPI) — House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., released the chamber’s 2014 calendar that includes 113 days the House will be in session.

The calendar, released Thursday on Cantor’s website, showed the House would be in session 27 days from the August recess until its last day in December.

The House is up for re-election in November 2014.

“Over the past three years, the legislative schedule has created certainty, increased efficiency and productivity in the committee process,” Cantor said in a statement accompanying the calendar. “This calendar helps ensure that elected officials never lose touch with their constituents while completing their work in Washington.”

The calendar includes four-day work weeks and one week outside of Washington a month, which Cantor said allow House members “time back in the district for meetings with working families, seniors, veterans, and other local communities. This is why we will continue to provide members with one full constituent work week in their districts each month.”
