Two Teachers Arrested for Sex Crimes Against Children

Todd McCullough, a 28-year-old Pennsylvania teacher, was arraigned on rape charges on Thursday while 53-year-old Christopher Wheeler, former headmaster at Tower Hill School in Delaware, turned himself him on Friday for child pornography charges.

In April 2012, shop teacher McCullough allegedly raped a 16-year-old student in the back room of the shop class after harassing her for years. He allegedly grabbed her hips, massaged her shoulders, told her she was hot and asked to see her breasts. A few weeks before the rape he allegedly demanded she show him her breasts and exposed himself to her. He pulled her out of another class to apologize after she missed his class for a week. Then he asked her to stay after class and allegedly raped her. She did not tell anyone about the rape until another girl said she was next on his hit list. The police believe there could be more victims.

“More or less, the situation surfaced when another female student came forward and said she was hearing rumors that she was next on the list or that she’d be one of his targets,” Matchik said. “She wanted everybody to be aware of that.”

“There’s a good chance additional charges could be pending,” he said. “This could be the tip of the iceberg.”

He does not have an attorney and is being held on $150,000 bail. He will face a preliminary hearing on November 13. He also faces the following charges: two counts of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault, involuntary deviate intercourse, corruption of minors, indecent assault without consent of others, indecent exposure, harassment, disorderly conduct and open lewdness.

Wheeler stepped down from his post last week and disappeared after police found child pornography in his office and home. The school does not know if current students are involved and authorities declined to specify. The school has over 300 students from age 3 to grade 12

“During the search, multiple computers and other digital media, along with other evidence, were seized,” said Jason Miller, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office. “A forensic examination of the computers and digital media conducted by the Delaware Child Predator Task Force recovered multiple images of child pornography.”

He turned himself in on Friday and is charged with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography. He is being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $1.5 million cash bail.
