Gun Companies Leave, Rural Counties Say No in Opposition to NY Gun Control

Ten months after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed his SAFE Act gun control measure into place, three gun companies have said goodbye to NY and rural counties “are passing resolutions opposing the gun control law.”

As Breitbart News reported on October 30, American Tactical Imports (ATI) became the third gun company to announce its departure from New York when it revealed plans to relocate to South Carolina. ATI’s reason for relocating is the anti-gun climate created by the provisions of Cuomo’s SAFE Act.

Now The Washington Free Beacon is reporting that opposition to the SAFE Act is growing, and rural counties are taking a stand, passing resolutions to oppose its requirements.

New York resident Evan Hempel, who is compiling a list of anti-SAFE Act resolutions, says:

It is a law forced on rural New Yorkers by a liberal elite who opposes the principles of the U.S. constitution. The majority of the state wants a hands-off, non-intrusive government, which does not interfere with their right to bear arms or crush business with regulation.

The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association’s Jacob J. Rieper added, “The more people find out about [the SAFE Act] the less they like it and the angrier they get.”
