Detroit Man Finds 5-Foot Albino Python, Gives to Pet Store

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 10 (UPI) — A Detroit-area man says he wasn’t scared by the albino Burmese python he found in his backyard, but gave it to a pet shop because “I don’t do snakes.”

Chuck Kaye, 29, of Southfield, Mich., said a man mowing his yard last week alerted him that his pet was loose — and Kaye assumed it was one of his two dogs, the Detroit Free Press reported Sunday.

“I thought my dog was getting out of the backyard, but it was actually a 5-foot, albino python,” Kaye said. “I just grabbed it up by the tail and drug it back to the house and put it in a Tupperware container.”

After unsuccessfully trying to find its owner through Craigslist, Kaye said he gave it to a pet shop.

“I don’t do snakes,” he told the Free Press. “I have two dogs, and I don’t need a 5-foot snake in my house.”

He said he had “absolutely no clue” how the python wound up in his yard.

“[When] I gave the snake to the pet store, they said it looked pretty beat up, like it had been outside for a while,” Kaye said.
