Obama Admin: Healthcare.gov Can Only Handle 20K-25K Users at Once

The Obama administration’s Chief Technology Officer said the Healthcare.gov website can only handle 20,000 to 25,000 users at once.

Appearing before a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the malfunctioning website, Todd Park also conceded to Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the chairman of the committee, that the “system was overwhelmed” by volume on the first day when it failed.

Issa pointed out that only six people were able to successfully navigate to the end of the application process on the first day when the website could not even handle 60,000 simultaneous users, which is the number of concurrent users the Obama administration claimed the site was built to handle.
